Light of the World

While we Christians celebrate Christmas, Jews are almost simultaneously celebrating Hanukkah. (This year, Hanukkah will be celebrated from December 25th to January 2nd.) These two-holiday celebrations have some remarkable similarities – especially as they are celebrated in our country today. In John 8, Jesus makes the audacious claim that He is the light of the world – a term pregnant with Messianic implications – to a Jewish audience who fully understood the profound implications of Jesus’ words. In this sermon, we’ll help parents and grandparents learn how to teach their children the profound implications of Jesus being the light of the world… as we live in an ever-increasing dark culture.
