Paul the Accountant

Sometimes, people who think about becoming a Christian ask, “What’s in it for me?” People will consider leaving a church because they “don’t get anything” from the services or messages. Paul uses a metaphor of an accountant – saying we need to change our perspective from asking, “What’s in it for me?” to “What can I surrender?” Christian growth takes place through surrender. I’ll draw a contrast between confidence in ourselves versus confidence in Christ. In this sermon, we’ll discuss the theological concept of justification. Paul takes legalistic heretics in this passage.
